Home delivered meals are possible for seniors who are unable to come to our dining locations due to illness or disability. Each month, a menu plan is approved by a registered dietician to ensure that our meals are healthy and balanced. We deliver five frozen meals in addition to milk, which not only provides nutrition but some social contact as well. Senior Meals can provide a connection to other social and rehabilitative services as well.
The request for home-delivered meals can be made by a family member, neighbor, friend, service provider, or professional. Of course, individuals can also call on their own behalf, and request a screening to determine eligibility.
Whether temporary or long-term, the home-delivered program is meant for those who need it most. Priority for receiving home-delivered meal service is determined by assessing the following factors: risk of institutionalization; severity of disease, disability, or illness; level of mobility (bedfast, uses crutches/walker/wheelchair); ability to shop for/prepare food; availability of help (family, worker, etc); age; income; and nutrition risk assessment score. Reassessments occur every ninety days. Call 712-2600 for an assessment.
