-Hunger in America report 2010
North State Food Bank (NSFB) is a program of Community Action Agency of Butte County, Inc. that covers Butte, Glenn, Colusa, Plumas, and Sierra counties in conjunction with Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity.
Their 2010 report, “Hunger in America” shows that hunger is increasing at an alarming rate in the United States. It was the largest study of domestic hunger ever done to date, providing comprehensive and statistically-valid data on the current emergency food distribution system. The report detailed data from more than 61,000 interviews with clients, and surveys of 37,000 feeding agencies.
Community Action Agency’s North State Food Bank is in partnership with Feeding America in the effort to expand resources to rural counties in the North State area. Combined with our experience in distributing Surplus commodities and Senior Nutrition programs, we now have a comprehensive effort to meet the challenges of the coming decade.
